Reflective Spaces, Nurses Care: we need care too – Nurses and Allied Healthcare Workers Support Groups
CHSA, a subsidiary of the RCN have teamed up with Doctors in Distress to offer a programme of group support sessions for nurses and allied healthcare workers (incl. Nurses, Midwives, Health Visitors, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapists & Occupational Therapists) working on the frontline.
The programme kicked off with a webinar on Monday 18th October 2021, 12.30-1.15pm, where we introduced the programme, discussed how the facilitated groups will work and provided an opportunity to talk about what participants would like to get out of the programme. The webinar saw our Chair, Dame Clare Gerada in conversation with Nursing Clinical Director, Brenda Donnelly and a couple of our group facilitators.

The weekly support groups, facilitated by trained professionals, will begin on the 10th November, 11am-12.15pm and will run for 8 weeks via Zoom. Participants will be split into smaller groups for these sessions (a maximum of 20 participants) where you will have an opportunity to talk and share your experiences. Our aim for the programme is to offer mental well-being support as well as a safe space to share experiences with colleagues and our trained facilitators.
On the 10th week (19/1/22) a final webinar brings all participants back together to share their experiences with the wider group.
N.B. There will be a 2 week break over the Christmas period (on 22/12 & 29/12).
